A square too far.
From http://www.sherylcrow.com/news.aspx?nid=7786

I propose a limitation be put on how many sqares (sic) of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting.

...

I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required.
My ass may be exceptionally spacious, but I can't imagine how anyone can get by with ONE SQUARE and keep their underwear neat. Unless she's arguing that mud-stains are a sacrifice worthy of saving trees. As for:
When presenting this idea to my younger brother, who's judgement (re-sic) I trust implicitly, he proposed taking it one step further. I believe his quote was, "how bout just washing the one square out."
Well, as long as we're washing our shit-stained undies, I guess it doesn't really matter. :-)

frig sheryl crow is an idealist moron, and not very original either (musically, or with her "environmental" ideas).

i wonder if she's ever been anywhere in the world that does not use toilet paper at all, of which there are plenty of places.

it doesn't matter. it was a wonderful segue for her to talk about dinner napkins, vis-a-vis her new DESIGNER CLOTHING LINE!!! yeah, she really cares about the $environment$.

and then again with the reality show. i wonder if she is even nominally aware of how awful film (chemicals, emulsions) and digital equipment are for the environment (probably much worse of an impact than toilet paper useage)? and what does the grand prize of a recording contract have to do with being environmentally conscious?

I'd prefer using a bidet than being restricted to one square.

But yeah, that blog entry reeks of commercialism. :-)

I think of Sheryl Crow every time I'm sitting on the toilet using at least a good 20 squares of tp ever since I read about that on the CBC.

We already lost our hi-flow toilets (and I am one of those people who often needs to flush 2-3 times with lo-flows, which means that more water is wasted than before), now this! It's like people are trying to make bathroom duties unpleasant and rustic.

Well, her ideals would create a neat black market for unrestricted toilet paper dispensers. :-)

obviously, sheryl crow has never worked in a business building where they only have industrial one-ply TP. :P

Way to go brother comment, let's save some trees by utilizing valuable water resources. What a plan!

I think the only reasonable, ecological solution is to have a "wiping" post installed.
